Do you want to take care of your new tattoo naturally?

Many people get a tattoo these days for different reasons. With the exception of some countries and cultures, tattoos have become widely accepted nowadays. For some, tattoos are a form of art. Most tattoo enthusiasts also say it is a form of self-expression. Some do it for fun and for adventure.

When you get a tattoo, the tattoo machine pierces your skin 50 to 3000 times per minute. The tattoo is etched in the dermis, the second layer of the skin. The cells of the dermis are more stable than those of the epidermis.

Tattoos are permanent so it is often recommended to think hard before getting one. In case you change your mind, laser surgery is the most effective way to remove a tattoo. It is easier to get rid of the blank ink because it absorbs a greater number of laser waves. On the other hand, it is difficult to remove green and yellow tattoo ink on the skin.

You must feel happy and proud after enduring the pain of getting a tattoo. However, you must remember that it doesn’t end there. You have to take care of your tattoo especially after the procedure. Since a tattoo is etched on the skin, it can be prone to infection until it heals.

1. After the procedure, your tattoo should be covered by a thin layer of petroleum jelly and a bandage.

2. The bandage can be removed after 24 hours.

3. Wash the tattoo gently with antimicrobial soap and water and simply pat dry. Do not rub to avoid irritation of the wound.

4. Apply a layer of antibacterial ointment twice a day.

5. Repeat this process for 2 to 4 weeks until the tattoo heals.

6. Try not to wear clothes that will stick to your tattoo.

7. Avoid swimming for about 2 weeks.

8. Do not expose your tattoo to direct sunlight.

9. Take cool showers. Hot water can hurt and fade the ink.

10. Do not pick, scratch or peel the scabs on your tattoo. It is normal.

If you prefer a natural way to avoid infections, you can use tea tree essential oil. This oil has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, perfect to soothe your fresh tattoos. Furthermore, coconut oil can moisturize your skin, making your tattoos remain bright and colorful for a long time. Using this oil blend can replace your store-bought antibacterial ointment.

1. Dilute tea tree essential oil with coconut oil.

2. Apply gently on your new tattoo.
