Do you sometimes have bad breath?

Bad breath, also known as halitosis, is an embarrassing condition that can happen to anyone. It is common among some people and has a variety of causes. The most common cause of bad breath is poor oral hygiene. Some people may not be very attentive about brushing their teeth or may have tooth decays or gum disease. Dry mouth and skipping meals also cause bad breath. Furthermore, the consumption of pungent and strong-tasting foods such as onions, garlic, and coffee adds to bad breath. Smoking and drinking alcohol can also contribute to this condition. Other major causes of bad breath can be infections, liver issues, diabetes and medications such as chemotherapy medication and nitrates for heart conditions.

Using toothpaste and mouthwash can treat bad breath but it won’t always work. There are different products created to freshen breath such as mints and mouth sprays. However, most of them have harsh ingredients such as alcohol and chemicals. These ingredients can temporarily freshen the breath but can end up drying the mouth and worsening halitosis.

ESSENTIAL OILS FOR MOUTH SPRAY

Essential oils are a better option when it comes to fighting halitosis. Essential oils have properties that can naturally and effectively freshen the breath. Peppermint essential oil has a high menthol content and can get rid of bad breath and freshen the mouth. It also has antiseptic properties that can kill bacteria in the mouth. Tea tree essential oil has antibacterial properties that can kill any lingering bacteria that can cause bad breath.

DIRECTIONS

1. Add the peppermint and tea tree essential oils in a glass spray bottle.

2. Top the bottle with filtered water.

3. Shake well and spray in your mouth whenever necessary to freshen the breath.

Use this essential oil mouth spray to freshen your breath anytime. This natural mouth spray does not have any harmful ingredients that can dry the mouth. The good thing about this mouth spray is you can bring it wherever you go. As with all oral care products, refrain from swallowing the liquid.

OTHER NATURAL REMEDIES FOR BAD BREATH

1. Drink water 4 cups of warm water first thing in the morning. This can gradually get rid of bad breath. Drinking water can also improve the condition of the digestive system. Water can also hydrate the mouth, preventing bad breath.

2. Some fruits such as apples, oranges, and strawberries have natural mouth odor-fighting properties. Apples contain pectin that can eliminate bad odor and promote saliva production. Fresh fruits can also clean the teeth and gums naturally.

3. Chew aromatic herbs like mint and parsley to remove bad breath. This can also treat digestive issues.

4. Stop smoking. The smell of smoke can stay on your breath for a long time. It may take a while but when you stop smoking, your breath and your sense of taste will improve gradually.

5. Avoid alcoholic drinks. Drinking alcohol can cause fermented-smelling breath and can dry the mouth.
